I feel safe.

I feel safe under the Pūhala trees.
Their prehistoric tenaciousness fills me with awe.
In earthquakes they laugh,
in hurricanes they wave to and fro
cleaning old leaves far due to drop,
in lava eruptions they are stillness and solitude
providing comfort and company.
Ulana ana lauhala fills my days
as Pele flows to the ocean.
